SS Decontrol –" Get It Away" 12" (yellow vinyl)
(SSD)
With the reissue of their seminal 1982 debut LP The Kids Will Have Their Say arriving last year, Boston thrashcore legends SSD (back when they still went by SS Decontrol) double down with the long overdue repress of what many fans consider to be their most integral effort, 1983's Get It Away EP. The first work to enlist additional guitarist Francois Levesque, who would be ultimately integral in the band's later progression into full-scale thrashers, the extra layers of buzzsaw assault are ironically most notably felt on the unhinged cover of Buzzcocks' 'No Reply'. Clocking in at little over 11 minutes, these seven bursts of chaotic, complex abandon marry the mayhem of hardcore with the frenetic intensity of thrash metal, all while coalescing to lay foundational blueprints for the powerviolence subgenre. Don't wait around on these, as it shan't be long before you see copies listed for ludicrously inflated prices next to original pressings on Discogs.
